I'm Esmee Yntema.

Dutch by birth, but raised on the beautiful island of Palma de Mallorca—yes, the one where all roads lead to the sea...

My parents owned a small sailboat charter business when I was little, so I grew up surrounded by sails, moorings, and the smell of salt.

I've always been fascinated by the sea. Over time, Palma went from being a quiet corner to becoming one of the world's most important superyacht hubs, home to some of the most fascinating boats on the planet. And of course... I wanted to get on board too.

More than six years ago, I decided to take the plunge—literally—into a life that, on paper, sounds like a dream: sun, sea, luxury yachts, generous tips, and dreamy photos in destinations few ever visit.

Reality? Well… not everything is like on Instagram.

My first day on board, I didn't even know how to work an industrial washing machine. I was lost inside the ship (yes, I was lost inside the ship itself), and the word "stew" sounded more like a stew than a job. I slept in a tiny bunk, ate whenever I could, and learned to smile even when all I wanted to do was crawl into a closet and cry silently. (Spoiler: I did. Once... or three times 🙃)

But I also experienced incredible things: I sailed the Mediterranean, met people from all over the world, learned to serve wine elegantly while the ship moved like a roller coaster, and grew personally and professionally in ways I never imagined.

I've experienced surreal situations, some hilarious, and others that truly tested me. That's why, after so many long shifts, early mornings, and magical sunset moments on deck, I decided to create these starter packs so you don't have to stumble across the same waves I did.

Because this isn't just a job: it's a lifestyle.

And if you want to do it right, you need more than just certifications. You need to be prepared, both mentally and physically, and know what you're getting into before you get on board.
